To update the BIOS of the Samsung N130 without Windows I found the following links helpful:

This is how I did it:
- Download the file usbdos.zip from voria.org.
- Connect a USB drive and get the identifier /dev/sdX of the drive, where X is the letter of the identifier (if the drive is is identified by /dev/sdb1, then X is b).
- Go to the location usbdos.zip is downloaded and unzip it.
- Execute the following command in a terminal (as root):
dd if=usbdos.img of=/dev/sdX
(where X is the letter, see above).
- Disconnect and reconnect the USB drive.
- Download the BIOS under: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDS...
- On a Windows system activate the exe file. This will extract the BIOS update files to the %tmp% folder. Get the file 05CMM011.wph.
- Find the exe file PH161700 under /Windows Activation and Xtras/Phlash17/ in the file Samsung_N130_Samsung_04CM.rar you can download from the mydigitallife.info link above.
- Copy the files 05CMM011.wph and PH161700.exe on the USB drive.
- Rename the file 05CMM011.wph to BIOS.wph.
- Boot on the USB drive and execute the following command in the DOS environment:
PH161700.EXE BIOS.WPH /O /Force /X /C /S
This will update the BIOS to version 05CM.
